How we handle personal information
1. Our commitment
Catalyst Private Credit Inc. (“Catalyst”) is committed to protecting personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act, as applicable.
2. What we collect
We collect personal information that you provide when you contact us, request financing or subscribe to updates, including name, business and contact details, information about a proposed transaction and its security, and, with your consent, financial, credit and identification information required to assess an application.
3. Why we collect it
We use personal information to respond to inquiries, assess and underwrite financing requests, verify identity and comply with anti-money-laundering and anti-terrorist-financing obligations under the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act, obtain credit bureau reports and references with your consent, administer funded loans, and send information you have asked to receive.
4. Consent
By providing personal information you consent to its collection, use and disclosure for the purposes described here. Where required, we obtain express consent, including before obtaining a credit bureau report. You may withdraw consent subject to legal and contractual restrictions, which may affect our ability to consider or administer a financing.
5. Who we share it with
We share personal information only as needed to complete a transaction and administer a loan: with appraisers, lawyers, environmental and cost consultants, insurers, credit bureaus (Equifax Canada and TransUnion Canada), referring brokers and advisors, our capital providers and service providers bound by confidentiality, and where required by law. We do not sell personal information.
6. Safeguards and retention
We protect personal information with physical, organizational and technological safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity. Information is retained as long as needed for the purposes described and to meet legal and regulatory requirements, then securely destroyed. Some service providers may store information outside Canada, where it is subject to the laws of that jurisdiction.
7. Electronic communications and cookies
We send commercial electronic messages only with consent, in accordance with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation, and every message includes an unsubscribe option. This site uses cookies and analytics to understand how it is used; you can control cookies through your browser settings.
8. Access and correction
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask that it be corrected, by contacting our Privacy Officer. We will respond within the time required by law and may need to verify your identity first.
